Derek helped coach the 2006 Arizona Firebirds Connie Mack team that went on to win the National Championship.
Derek Forbes
Derek is a hometown boy who was the starting pitcher all four years for Chapparal High School. He played as the relief pitcher at Yavapai Junior College and then became the Starting Pitcher at South Mountain Junior College. Although Derek signed a full ride scholarship with the University of New Orleans he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks and decided to play professionally. Derek also played in the Baltimore Orioles, and the New York Mets organizations. He was a starting pitcher as well as a reliever and a closer.
Derek spent time with the Mexican Major League Baseball from 2005-2007.
He has helped coach the Connie Mack Baseball team as part of the Arizona Firebirds program (ages 15-18). This team won the Connie Mack World Series in 2006. We welcome Derek here at Line Drives as our most recent new instructor. He is very involved with the baseball community and desires to share his knowledge and experiences with young ball players and their families. "Baseball is a passion that is a huge part of who I am now, and will always be".
Derek is currently playing in Atlantic League
